Government-run is the problem

In response to the letter, “Customer service sadly lacking,” regarding the USPS: I would like to add the DMV licensing locations and the solid waste facilities to the list. What do all of these have in common? Hmmm, could it be they are government operated? Perhaps (as I have heard suggested before) they should be privately operated. In fact, many times when I take a bill into a government agency, the front desk people are rude and/or bored. I bite my tongue, but would like to stand there silently with a smile on my face waiting for them to respond. Unfortunately, I fear they have the attitude of “I am taken care of and I don’t need to be nice.” Good customer service with a smile is never out of style.
