Great program worth discovering

I would like to encourage anyone interested in rowing — either for the first time or to continue a previous rowing career, to join the Everett Rowing Association. Having had previous rowing experience, I was able to join one of the adult teams right away. However, the more I get to know the people who came through the Learn to Row program, the more I am impressed with how ERA engages new rowers. After a few weeks learning the basics, the new rowers filter into the adult groups to get time in the boats. Each person seemed so well prepared that it was hard to tell who was new and who was a returning rower.

When I started coming to ERA’s practices in February I felt immediately welcomed by both the rowers and the staff. Once spring rolled around we transitioned from indoor practices to on-the-water practices. Getting back on the water after several years away from the sport had me kind of nervous. That feeling quickly dissipated before the first practice even started. I could clearly see the coaches were well trained, not only in rowing technique, but in running practices in a safe and fun manner. No boat left the dock without the coach being prepared with multiple pieces of safety equipment.

Please take a minute to check out this club’s website everettrowing.com and consider joining us for a class or some time on the water.
