I have been following the coverage on the Everett School District using eminent domain to take under 7 acres from residents. This just sickens me that they will not give those folks the appraised value. What a slap in the face! In the articles that have been published there is always a district spokesperson that says on the line of “we don’t take the issue of eminent domain lightly.” They don’t care; they just want to get land for cheap and that is just what they have done and not even helping with moving cost. These are the same kind of minds that get caught cheating, apologize publicly for hurting their families. They aren’t sorry about taking the land, they are sorry that they have to admit it.
I can’t imagine living in my home for 50 years and then having someone give me next to nothing for my land and home. How would you officials in the school district like it if someone came and told you they were giving you $300,000 for you $800,000 home? I’m pretty sure you would fight it.
Do the right thing: Give these folks their appraised value and moving costs.
The greed in America is terrible. Companies don’t take care of their employees (all about the stockholders), airlines charge you for everything, cities/state/federal governments keep slapping on more taxes. News flash, politicians: We the people have to live on a budget, you the government should do the same. The more you take from me in taxes, the less I can spend on other things.
