Regarding the Sunday editorial, “Working to end gun violence”: Your focus on “Joel’s Law” as a solution to preventing shooting rampages is naive and simplistic. It ignores the bigger issue: the dearth of quality mental health support is Snohomish County’s No. 1 health issue.
Snohomish County has been a Sandy Hook waiting to happen for years. It is time to hold the county’s major mental health providers like Compass Health accountable. The SPU gunman needed more than the in-patient treatment he received.
