I couldn’t agree more with Eric Teegarden’s letter, “Let the robots replace academics.” Especially his last paragraph about building a “smart” grid composed of solar and wind generators.
Even if this climate change isn’t totally man-made, what we are doing isn’t helping. Humankind is being tested to see how intelligent we really are. Are we going to stick with the status quo, ignore all the signs and blindly cough, starve and sicken ourselves into extinction? Or are we going to prove ourselves worthy by correcting our polluting ways and evolve?
The choice is ours and since Congress hasn’t evolved past the “kindergarten-sandbox-squabbles” stage, it really is up to the local grown-up leaders to start and support the projects that are needed for our survival on this planet. Time is not on our side. We need to get going now or we’ll go the way of the T. rex real soon.
I have faith. I also have faith in humankind. If we can evolve from caves to jet planes, we can evolve enough to stop being part of the problem. Bad things can only continue to happen when good people do nothing.
