I have read many articles about Sound Transit rail proposal and I believe this to be a very critical vote in November. I am 63 and clearly remember the last time the Northwest had a rapid transit proposal in 1968. It was primarily King County/Seattle focused but was the beginning of rapid rail. This proposal was voted down, twice. It did come with federal money. After the second defeat there was no further proposals. The federal government took the money and shopped around for another city and Atlanta, Georgia, received a nice rapid rail system.
The reasons for defeat were many, but centered around the belief that it was not necessary because the population was too small. Look up the populations for King, Snohomish and Pierce counties them and now. Notice any changes? I believe this to be a needed system, especially for the future, unless you want to sit in your car on the freeway and be angry. True I may not even be alive when the work is completed but there are many works that current generations pay for that they will never see or use. Don’t be foolish. Don’t wait another 45 or 50 years for this proposal. If nothing else it won’t be less expensive.
