Little creatures

Scientists have discovered a new species of mammal: a cute little thing called a olinguito that resembles a cross between a raccoon and a teddy bear.

The adorable critter lives in the forests of South America, and someday, we presume, also in the plastic bubbles that currently house ferrets at your local PetSmart.

Ike from Ork: As Herald Movie Critic Robert Horton sees it, the oddest thing about “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” the new movie about a White House butler, is neither the director’s vanity title nor the casting of Oprah Winfrey as the butler’s wife, but the choice of Robin Williams to play Dwight D. Eisenhower (PS: Jane Fonda plays Nancy Reagan).

Horton’s right. How fakey. No way was Ike’s back that hairy.

Don’t know much about history: Fifty-one years ago today, The Beatles fired their original drummer, Pete Best, replacing him with Ringo Starr.

Obviously this was a bitter pill for Best to swallow, especially when the Beatles became the biggest rock band that ever was and probably ever will be. But at least he didn’t have to put up with all those screaming, fainting girls. And Britain’s confiscatory taxes back in the 1960s and ’70s. And Yoko always hanging about during the “Let It Be” sessions.
