Many real issues need addressing

Our society should be ashamed of its arrogance in thinking it should marshall and deny marriage and the legal safeguards of right of survivalship, etc., that come with it, to single-sex couples in committed relationships. How is it the business of politics in the first place?

It is my opinion that any politician who doesn’t take a positive stand concerning gay issues is really missing the boat. The issues of gay rights include people of all cultures, all financial brackets and all ranges of education.

I believe the gay population is turning out to be much larger than we previously expected. A politician who is too timid to take on the rights issues of single sex couples, is not supporting that gay “minority,” but also all of the voting moms, dads, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers who love them. That is a very large contingent, indeed. I won’t vote for anyone who is afraid to make a positive stand.

What I find unfathomable is that with all the war and fights with disease and other life threatening possibilities in our world, we are being asked to contemplate, worry about, and vote on issues concerning who is loving each other!

Get over it.
