New Little Honda

Third gear, hang on tight: The Grom, a $3,000 mini-motorcycle, is such a surprise hot seller for Honda that dealers report long waiting lists.

Perhaps Beach Boy Brian Wilson will write a song about this groovy little motorbike — after he wakes up from his afternoon nap, that is.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1948, President Harry Truman defeated Republican challenger Thomas E. Dewey in the greatest upset in American political history — and the most embarrassing headline gaffe in American journalism history with the Chicago Tribune’s “Dewey Defeats Truman.”

With the benefit of hindsight, Tribune editors later said they wish they’d instead chosen the headline The Onion used years later: “Other Guy Defeats What’s-His-Face.”

Sorry for that back rub from Bush, too: Secretary of State John Kerry acknowledged Friday that some National Security Agency spying went too far and the U.S. will take steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

It was the first time a high-ranking Obama administration official admitted that knowing what time German Chancellor Angela Merkel plans to arrive at her weekend home in the countryside, and what should she pick up at the store on the way, probably is not crucial to the national security of the United States.
