The citizenry will soon be asked to vote on two laws intended to better control legal gun sales.
The voters expect that because of the superior intellectual wizardry of our leaders they will be able to tell a potential mass murderer of the local kindergarten from a plain, harmless law-abiding citizen. Unfortunately it appears likely that this may not be the case.
Aside from the fact that localities with the strictest gun control laws have the highest murder rates other recent events cast doubt on this hope. I cite the following:
The “Fast and Furious” debacle where our government sent thousands of military type arms to criminal gangs south of the border. The better to kill our border patrol, I guess.
The recent loss of an estimated half of the best in modern weaponry, which we entrusted to our allies in Iraq. That so-called allied army just gave them away in their haste to join with ISIS terrorists.
At least 40 percent of the small arms we supplied to the “Afghan National Security Forces” are unaccounted for at this time. Possibly they have gone to the Kurds who at least would resist the terrorists, I guess.
Wizards? I doubt it.
