I would like to respond to the Jan. 10 letter writer and all the other Obama haters out there who have nothing else to do but complain about this president — yes, president and a second-term president who got elected with over 51 percent of the popular vote! People are upset because we are facing serious economic issues in this country, which by the way was inherited by this president, and they think this [resident should keep his behind home along with his family and address them instead of wasting the taxpayer’s money on all that Secret Service Security and Air Force One.
Question where was all this outrage with George W. Bush?
Bush spent at least $20 million taxpayer just on flights to his ranch in Crawford, TX.
People constantly hold George W. Bush up as an example of how thrifty a president should be when going on vacation.
He was the most expensive vacation president in U.S. history, spent more days on vacation and used Air Force One more often while on vacation than any other president.
Bush’s August 2005 vacation, which was scheduled for five weeks, but was cut short by two days due to Hurricane Katrina, was the longest presidential vacation in 36 years, according to historical standards.
Various sources, including CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller, unofficial presidential statistician reported President Obama at the end of November 2012 will have spent 84 days on vacation since he became president on Jan. 20, 2009. To compare, at that point of their terms, George Bush spent 180 days at his ranch, Reagan spent 112 vacation days at his ranch, and Bill Clinton had spent the least time off — 28 days. President George W. Bush spent 879 days on holiday during his eight years in office.
