Pre-K is a good investment

It’s good news when the majority of voters in our county vote in favor of education. The importance of education cannot be overemphasized.

The new movement for universal pre-K is planning to close the gaps in readiness when students begin kindergarten. These gaps among students is one of the ways the cycle of poverty is continued in America. New York City seems to be leading the way in this for universal Pre-K.

The president called it “one of the best investments we can make.” Of course the way to make this happen is for citizens to tell Congress this is important. As the president said, “It is you, our citizens, who make our nation strong.” By exercising our right to speak to our representatives, it becomes good politics to do the right thing, like universal pre-K education.
