Regarding the Saturday article, “Marysville schools’ scores mandate change”:
When it comes to school districts, it is “respondeat superior,” a legal doctrine which states that, in many circumstances, an employer is responsible for the actions of employees.
So, before we start looking at removing individual school principals or teachers from their posts, let’s remove those persons who had all the power to prevent what has happened at Tulalip Elementary School and Totem Middle School.
It is time for Dr. Nyland, Gail Miller and the school board to tender their resignations. The failure of these schools to produce students who consistently perform at acceptable parameters falls on them. This happened on their watch. It is unacceptable. They need to be replaced with a group that can get the job done and not make verbal political jabs about money at the federal government for their own failures.
