Shouse has right priorities, experience

I am writing to endorse Erik Shouse for fire commissioner on Camano Island. He is running for position 2 and the name of the fire district on your ballot is Island County Fire District 1.

Erik has 16 years as a firefighter and paramedic, most recently in Snohomish County. This hands-on emergency experience would be a valuable contribution to our local board of fire commissioners.

Our fire district has seven fewer fire fighters than it did two years ago. We are also operating with one less medical aid car because of budget cutbacks. Instead of spending money on emergency personnel and equipment, our fire district has built a new office building and purchased a boat. I disagree with their spending priorities and think we need new people on the board of fire commissioners.

As an emergency professional, Erik Shouse will make sure we have enough fire fighters and paramedics on the front lines to help our families in an emergency. I trust him to put the safety of our families first.
