Somers another politician as usual

“Dave Somers navigated the road less traveled, from citizen-candidate to principled lawmaker. He’s an inspired exception to a dispiriting rule.” That’s a direct quote from the Everett Herald Editorial Board on Oct. 6, during its recommendation of councilman Somers for a third term.

Councilman Somers, while running for re-election, stated he didn’t support a tax hike for a new county justice center back in September. I bring us to the present, and councilman Somers voted on Nov. 25 to increase county property taxes, and even voted for the more expensive option for the new justice center.

I believe councilman Somers in not the principled lawmaker and inspired exception but instead is a politician-as-usual in which we state one thing while running for office and do different once elected. After watching councilman Somers for several years now, it has become apparent that he has a lack of leadership, vision, and is a deceptive politician.
