Regarding the Tuesday article, “Kids listen to a sober tale”:
I find it ironic that Alice Walker, the daughter of sharecropper parents, would write a book entitled “Why War Is Never a Good Idea.” All she would have to do is listen to her parents, the children of slaves, to find out at least one good reason why war is sometimes a good idea. I also find it sad that Cedar Wood Elementary would invite her to talk about this particular book when I’m sure that some of the students of the school have parents or relatives serving in Iraq believing that sometimes war is necessary.
