Talk about tactics and propaganda

Regarding the letter, “Opponents make things up”: I am not writing to answer any of Mark Crane’s questions. He is, after all, SNBL’s vice president for business development and indeed, he should have all the answers. He explained himself at length on the front page in the article “Life and death in the monkey lab”.

But I take umbrage at his letter, commenting on the letter, “Profit-driven hypocrites at work.” I am also an animal rights activist and my “tactics and propaganda” are as good as his and I am not part of a “mob.” We are just on opposite sides with different opinions. Mark Crane has an important job to protect, where mine, equally vital, is to protect animals.

I changed my mind and I will answer one of his questions: “4. What kind of moral compass chooses the life of a rat, dog, or monkey over a human being?” I do, Mr. Crane, I do, for ethical reasons. As a human being, I find myself equal to all animals on this planet; some are even smarter than I am.

Methinks Mr. Crane doth protest too much. The animal rights movement is here to stay and we’ll keep on fighting the good fight for mice, rats, dogs, cats, pigs, monkeys, etc.

Animals are not ours to use or abuse in any way.
