Thanks for 35 years of support for kids

After more than 35 years of serving the families of Snohomish County, the South Snohomish County Holiday Toy Shop has officially closed its doors.

In its beginning over 35 years ago, it was coordinated through the DSHS-CSO office in Lynnwood, and about 15 years ago the YWCA stepped in and took it over. We would like to thank all the businesses and organizations that have supported us over the years with monetary donations and toys. We also would like to give a huge shout out to the hundreds of volunteers who participated year after year.

Special thanks to Mountlake Terrace Church of Christ, which for many, many years allowed us to set up in the church. Thanks to Terrace Park School in Mountlake Terrance and the staff for allowing us to use the school facilities more recently for the toy shop set-up. So many people have helped make this toy shop the success it was and we feel very blessed to have been able to work with all of you to provide gifts for more than 1,300 children every Christmas throughout Snohomish County.

Thanks to community volunteers Marlice Camus, Kathy Ryan, Gayle Joinette, Dawn Rene’ Becker, Barbara Wyatt, Val MacDonald, and Phyllis Keilly-Tyler; Merrie Emmons, Edmonds; Cathy Schindler, HASCO; and Luanne Kunz, YWCA of Seattle King Snohomish County.
