Thanks to mayor, citizens for saving trees

I’d like to publicly express my thanks to Mayor Ray Stephanson for his decision not to allow the tree removal at Legion Park. I wrote the initial letter to The Herald, a personal one to the mayor and established the Facebook page. I can’t thank the community enough for their response, and I’m grateful that we have a mayor who listened. It is clear that parks administration lacked oversight, and I believe that Mayor Stephanson recognized that when he stated that there is a need to review the city’s tree removal ordinance, as well as a need for greater public transparency. Many thanks to the mayor, and everyone who helped in the campaign to save the trees.
