There’s something fishy, here

Would Ivar keep clam about this? Despite earning the moniker “frankenfish,” genetically modified salmon that grow twice as fast as normal salmon have been declared as safe to eat by the Food and Drug Administration. The modified fish uses extra growth hormone from chinook salmon and a gene from an eel-like fish to keep it growing.

If this is successful, the company developing the salmon said it may cross a sockeye with an alder tree to get a fish that smokes itself.

The boat only comes in white or black: A 256-foot luxury yacht dubbed “Venus” that Apple co-founder Steve Jobs commissioned before his death is complete, but delivery of the ship, designed with high-tech amenities, has been held up because of a dispute over payment between the designer and Job’s heirs.

Adding insult to injury for the yacht’s owners, the boatbuilder just announced an updated yacht for $100 less that has more space and an improved docking system.

Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1864, amid the Civil War, Union Gen. William T. Sherman sent a message to President Abraham Lincoln: “I beg to present you as a Christmas-gift the city of Savannah.”

Lincoln replied: “It’s a wonderful thought, Sherm, but it doesn’t go with my hat. I wonder if you could send along the gift receipt.”
