Whips and chains sold separately: Los Angeles black community leaders are calling for the removal from stores of action figure toys based on characters from Quentin Tarantino’s latest “revenge fantasy” flick, “Django Unchained,” about a former slave who hunts down the plantation owner holding his wife. The action figures, one activist said, “trivialize the horrors of slavery.”
A toy company spokesman said the action figures are meant for adult collectors, who, after they’ve had their bath and are in their jammies, stage scene-for-scene recreations of the movie on their family room floors.
Can I get that coffee to go? A man who had been hit by a bus in downtown Seattle got up and walked a block to a Starbucks, still bleeding from his head and speaking incoherently.
The man had obviously sustained a concussion, Starbucks baristas said, because all he tried to order was a cup of coffee, black, no sugar.
