The article in the Jan. 9 Herald about the missing man with Alzheimer’s broke my heart. Shortly after my husband was diagnosed with dementia, there was a elderly lady in Marysville who drove her car off the road into some brush. She was not found in time to save her.
I was so worried about my husband after that, but then there was a article in The Herald about a program offered by the Sheriff’s Department where you can rent a radio-signal bracelet from them. The department maintains the bracelet and the cost is worth the peace of mind, and it isn’t expensive, really.
As it happened, there was never a need for the use of the bracelet, but just knowing that Jerry had that bracelet around his ankle let me breathe.
My heart goes out to the Metzger family, and I hope Rick Metgzer is found safe.
