As a member of a Gold Star family, I’m disgusted by the false patriotism of our glorious leader. This was on full display when he received five draft deferments for such painful bone spurs he supposedly could not walk, but surprisingly would play varsity sports. I would have loved to see that physician’s financial statements.
The right to protest peacefully is inviolate under our Constitution, and although I prefer that our sports stars stand and link arms to show respect, it is their right to sit, kneel or whatever they feel like.
I believe our leader’s “patriotism” should be celebrated with a new cheer on national television: 60,000 people chanting “bone spurs” for a full minute would bring sputtering silence from the White House that would end the distractions from the sports scene we either love or hate.
