Tuohy has proven leadership skills for mayor’s office

I am pleased that Judy Tuohy has announced her candidacy for mayor of Everett. She is a true product of our town, living and working here much of her life.

Judy Tuohy was a volunteer and board member at the Schack Art Center prior to her current position as its executive director. As director, Judy has overseen grants to support the Schack, has worked with a dedicated staff, as well as the city, businesses and artist on many projects, and has taken the arts into the community and our schools.

The Schack has a state of the art glass-blowing studio, offers numerous classes and workshops, and is a first class gallery for art exhibitions, one of the most notable being a retrospective of the world famous, Everett raised artist, Chuck Close. It was Judy’s leadership that resulted in collaboration with Arts Space, a national company, to fund and build the current facility, part studio/apartments and part public arts center.

To get all of this done, Judy needed to use her exceptional collaborative skills. Inspiration is important, and she has plenty of that. But, in our community, important projects happen because someone has the ability and drive to inspire and provide leadership that results in success. After watching Judy work for many years, I have no doubt that she will provide and inspire paths for our greater community to create needed direction, and to solve the city’s many difficult problems.

Judy Tuohy will be a great mayor for the City of Everett.
