I whole-heartedly agree with Heather Brookins letter regarding the need to keep the character that makes the city of Snohomish special. (“Stay true to our small town roots.”) Downtown Snohomish is one of the reasons we moved into this area in 1981, and the reason we stay and enjoy showing the town off to all our visiting friends and relatives. We love the preservation of all that is historic, the friendliness of a small town community, the special service only small town businesses can give you, and the dedication the Snohomish community (people and businesses) give to local causes such as the Boys and Girls Club, food bank, senior center, parks and scenic walks. Snohomish “charm” has a reputation for being a great place to visit, spend leisure time, and “stop to smell the roses” (or in our case, enjoy the garden clubs beautiful hanging baskets). I, too, hope our civic leaders will continue to preserve its uniqueness.
