I’ve been a subscriber for most of the last 25 years, but when my subscription expires on Jan. 27, I won’t be renewing.
You’ve always leaned toward the left, and though I don’t agree with many of your beliefs, I could tolerate that. I just wanted the factual news so I could form my own opinions; however, referring to your publication as a “newspaper” seems to be a thing of the past. Evidently your reporters/editors have decided that I no longer need facts, that I should just believe whatever tripe they regurgitate. Since the election it has gotten much worse, with your sheet being totally disrespectful, to the point of being ridiculous. That’s strike one.
Strike two is your handling of catastrophes in the news. Just for your information, a story of how a mother is grieving when her child was killed, or a family’s grief over loss due to a slide, or any other stories of grieving isn’t news. It’s called exploitation. When a family needs to be left alone to deal with grief that’s when your reporters swarm in.
Strike three is the omission of facts that although important to the story might be embarrassing to your friends, or the important people of the area.
Your sheet no longer serves any purpose for me. If I want your type of writing, I’ll subscribe to the Globe or National Enquirer.
