What’s cooking
The latest in the seemingly inexhaustible supply of reality shows from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is “MasterChef Junior,” debuting Friday night on Channel 13.
In it, pint-size chefs ages 8 to 13 try to impress Ramsay with their cooking skills. Spoiler alert: The show is monitored by security personnel who shoot Ramsay with a Taser every time he calls one of the kids a “#@#@#ing donkey.[”]
Takes one to know one: Mentally ill people with access to firearms ought to be committed to psychiatric hospitals, says Wayne LaPierre, the National Rifle Association’s frequently volatile executive vice president.
LaPierre’s words apparently were merely symbolic, as he did not check himself into the nearest psychiatric center after his appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Don’t know much about history: On this day in 1952, Sen. Richard Nixon, R-Calif., salvaged his vice presidential nomination and his political future by making the famous “Checkers” speech on national television.
