EDMONDS -- For nearly 30 years, the state annually issued awards to a few of the high school seniors who were ranked in the top 1 percent in Washington. They were the best of the best, honored not only for their academic achievements, but for their leadership and community service.

BLAINE -- Granite Falls guard Rhiannon Alexander had 21 points, eight rebounds, and three steals, but the Tigers could not match Blaine in the fourth quarter, losing 57-44 to the Borderites. Granite Falls will play Mount Baker in a 2A District loser-out game on Monday at Skagit Valley College.
