AquaSox eliminated from first-half playoff race

KEIZER, Ore. — Everett’s bid for a first-half division title ended Sunday as the AquaSox lost to Salem-Keizer 3-1 in Northwest League baseball action.

After Salem-Keizer added a run in the fourth on a home run by Heath Quinn, the AquaSox cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Nick Zammarelli hit an RBI single, driving in Eric Filia.

Salem-Keizer right-hander Melvin Adon (1-3) picked up the win. He allowed one run on four hits over 52⁄3 innings. Opposing starter Tim Viehoff (0-2) took the loss. Viehoff allowed three runs and three hits over four innings.
