AquaSox get 15 hits, beat Vancouver 11-6

EVERETT — After disappearing on Monday, Everett’s offense returned in a big way on Tuesday, banging out 15 hits as the AquaSox defeated Vancouver 11-6.

The victory kept Everett alone in first place in the Northwest League’s North Division, taking a two-game lead on the Canadians. The rubber match of the current three-game series is today at Everett Memorial Stadium.

The Canadians scored three runs (two earned) on three hits off Everett starter Stephen Pryor in the top of the first inning. Pryor, the Mariners relief pitcher who hasn’t pitched in a game since mid-April, was making his first rehab start as he looks to come back from a torn side muscle.

The AquaSox responded with two runs in the bottom of the first inning and added five more in the bottom of the second, highlighted by a three-run home run by first baseman Reggie Lawson that broke a 4-4 tie. It was Lawson’s first home run of the season.

Lawson, who finished 2-for-4 with four RBI, was one of six Everett players with multiple hits in the game. Third baseman D.J. Peterson finished 3-for-5 with two RBI and second baseman Lonnie Kaupilla was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

After the Canadians scored at least one run in each of the first four innings, Everett reliever Tommy Burns pitched five perfect innings to close out the game for the AquaSox.
