Athletes of the Week — April 2-7


Baseball | Mountlake Terrace

The Hawks catcher had two doubles, a triple and a two-run home run in a pair of wins over Oak Harbor and caught all 17 innings of Mountlake Terrace’s three wins last week in which it outscored opponents 35-1.


Softball | Lakewood

The Cougars second baseman finished the week 7-for-11 with two doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI as Lakewood went 3-1 and outscored its opponents 50-11 in the three wins.


Boys soccer | Lynnwood

The Royals forward scored a goal and assisted on one in each of Lynnwood’s two wins last week, including a win over Marysville Getchell that catapulted the Royals into second place in Wesco 3A.


Girls tennis | Shorecrest

The Scots No. 1 singles player handed Francesca O’Malley her first loss of the season 6-1, 6-0 and Shorecrest beat Shorewood for the first time in eight years.


Track | Arlington

The Eagles athlete threw the javelin 198 feet, 1 inch to win the event by nearly 16 feet at the Birger Solberg Invite and lead Arlington to a first-place finish in the boys competition. The throw was just 16 inches off of a personal best.


Golf | Shorewood

The Shorewood golfer scored 35 modified Stableford points — 11 more than the next golfer — to earn medalist honors and lead the Thunderbirds past Shorecrest by two points in a match between the crosstown rivals.
