Athletes, schools rose to the top of the class of 2013

The Herald’s postseason honors are out in high school sports. Here are the schools, games and athletes that rose to the top in our Class of 2013 voting:

Boy athlete of the year: Snohomish’s Tanner Perry is a decorated three-sport athlete in football, wrestling and golf and was voted to the All-Wesco team in all three sports. See what’s in his plans in our Q&A.

Girl athlete of the year: Amy-Eloise Neale was a 4.0 student, captured seven state titles in the past four years, and led the Glacier Peak Grizzlies to a third state title. See what’s next for her in our Q&A.

Game of the year: Arlington and Lake Stevens faced off in the state girls basketball semifinal, and a dramatic buzzer-beater sent the game into overtime.

Team of the year: Led by nearly unbeatable pitcher Ronnie Ladines, the Arlington softball team rolled to a state championship.

School of the year: It was a good year to be an Eagle. Arlington had strong seasons in football, boys and girls basketball, and a state title in softball.

The Class of 2013 winners were chosen by Herald staff writers and editors based on first-hand observations and information from coaches and athletic directors.
