EDMONDS — Kejuan Coleman ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns and the Bruins overcame a poor start to beat Lynnwood in a Wesco 4A South game at Edmonds Stadium on Friday night.
Cascade led at halftime despite a poor offensive showing in the first half due to a pair of big special teams plays. The Bruins blocked a Lynnwood punt and Casey Smith picked it out of the air and ran it into the end zone for the game’s first score. Lynnwood tied the game on a 22-yard touchdown run by David Nguyen and looked to be heading to halftime knotted with the Bruins but a fumble by a punt returner deep in their own territory was recovered by Cascade.
Two plays later Cascade quarterback Josh Smith went around the right side for seven yards and the Bruins’ second score.
In the second half, Cascade got a pair of touchdown runs from Coleman, who gained 104 of his yards after halftime, and a 72-yard touchdown reception by Kaleb Dobson.
