The Everett Silvertips had a well-deserved day off Monday after returning Sunday morning from their Central Division road trip.
We're finally home again.

The Tips return to practice Tuesday in anticipation of a Wednesday home game against the Tri-City Americans. Everett finished its nine-game road trip 3-6, including a 2-4 showing against the Central. But it’s worth remembering they’re still riding backup goaltender Dorrin Luding as Carter Hart remains out with mono.
Aside from a three-game stretch in which they scored just one goal in each contest, the Tips are averaging nearly four goals per game. That’s the product of the more open style first-year head coach Dennis Williams hopes to instill in his hockey club.
It’s still a very quick turnaround for Wednesday’s game against the Americans, a team against which the Tips are 1-1 so far this season. That’s followed by a home game Friday against a very good Moose Jaw team and a Sunday home game against the Seattle Thunderbirds. Then the schedule slows down a bit. The Tips have four days off before a game at Kamloops followed by another day off and a game at Portland. That’s it for October.
Remember, the Tips made a conscious effort to avoid midweek home games as much as possible this season though this week is an obvious exception. The next midweek home game isn’t until Nov. 15 when Prince Albert comes to town.
It was a pretty light day in terms of hockey stuff league-wide. You can check out this CHL notebook from Sportsnet’s Neate Sager that looks at the fast start of the Swift Current Broncos and leading scorer Tyler Steenbergen. The Tips don’t see Swift Current until the Broncos come to Xfinity Arena on Jan. 21.
