Those of you who are regular followers of my blog are aware that every once in a while I post about former Silvertips media intern Michael Henrichsen and his quest to get 80s rocker Billy Idol to play his birthday. For nearly two years Michael has gone to every length imaginable in an effort to woo Billy into playing Seattle in the vicinity of his Oct. 22 birthday. His incredible efforts are chronicled on his website.
Well, tonight was Billy Idol Aid 4, where Michael’s 80s cover band Nite Wave played a charity show at the Showbox in Seattle. And after the show, Michael revealed a video where Billy announced he was coming to town to play Michael’s birthday! The show will be at the Showbox on Oct. 26.
All I can say is WOW! I’ve had the pleasure of having a first-hand look at this project from its beginning, and I’ve watched Michael come up with so many clever ideas and put countless hours of work into it. To see it pay off was inspiring. It’s a great lesson for everyone in any of life’s endeavors, that persistence and hard work can pay off.
So congrats Michael! You done good, and no one is more deserving.
