Basketball

The Everett Community College women’s basketball team has signed six Snohomish County players to letters of intent, coach Chet Hovde said Monday.

The group includes a pair of transfer students — Erin Feeney from Western Washington University and Alex Kenney from North Seattle Community College.

The other signees are guard Alyssa Brazel and forward Kierra Wilkins from Monroe High School, center Kaiti Ferro from Arlington High School, and post Ashley Albertson, who graduated from Edmonds-Woodway High School in 2011.

“I’m excited for these six,” Hovde said. “They are going to be a good team to follow,”

Feeney is a former Jackson High School standout. The 5-foot-8 guard played in 29 games for Western Washington last season as a freshman. She averaged 2.9 point per game.

Kenney was a 2011-12 All-Northern Region first-team pick as a freshman at North Seattle Community College. The 5-6 guard from Edmonds-Woodway High School averaged 13.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. North Seattle has dropped its women’s basketball program, Hovde said.

Brazel, a 5-foot-7 guard, was Monroe’s second-leading scorer last season, averaging 8.4 points per game. Wilkins, a 5-10 forward, averaged 6.2. Ferro, a 6-foot center, averaged 4.7 points per game for Arlington.

Feeney and Kenney will be sophomores in the 2012-13 season. The others will be freshmen.

Soccer

Brianna Ellis has accepted a scholarship to play for the women’s soccer team at Trinity Lutheran College in Everett.

Ellis, a graduate of Jackson High School, played the past two season at Everett Community College. As a freshman in the fall of 2010 she was named the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Northern Region MVP.

As a sophomore this past fall Ellis, a forward, helped lead the Trojans (13-2) win the Northern Region title and advance to the semifinals of the NWAACC tournament.
