Patrick Enewally, a redshirt freshman defensive back from Norwalk, Calif., has been dismissed from the Washington Huskies football team, a UW spokesperson confirmed.

No reason was provided. A source told the News Tribune that Enewally was involved in an off-field altercation with a teammate earlier this week, which could have been the impetus for his dismissal.

Enewally, a 6-foot-1, 191-pound cornerback, redshirted last season after signing as part of former coach Steve Sarkisian’s final recruiting class at Washington. He likely would have been in competition for playing time in 2014, given the lack of depth in UW’s secondary.

Enewally is the first player new coach Chris Petersen has dismissed. Three other players have been suspended since Petersen took over in December — quarterback Cyler Miles and wide receiver Damore’ea Stringfellow are currently serving indefinite suspensions in connection with an alleged assault on Feb. 2 in the University District, and linebacker John Timu was suspended for two weeks in March after being charged with vehicle prowling.
