Everett 3, Kootenay 2

Everett concluded its stint at the Tri-City Preseason Tournament by knocking off Kootenay this morning. Zach McPhee, Luke Gordon and Tyler Sandhu all scored their first goals of the presason for Everett, while Troy Trombley went the distance in goal, making 22 saves. The Tips outshot the Ice 29-24.

Keep in mind that Kootenay was playing just its second preseason game while Everett was playing its fifth. Also, the Ice used a young lineup, scratching four of the five overagers on the roster, as well as superstar 17-year-old forward Sam Reinhart. But a win’s a win, especially for a team trying to build a resume like Everett. The Tips improved their preseason record to 3-2.
