Everett wins at the buzzer

MILL CREEK – Ed Overton’s put-back shot at the buzzer gave Everett a 74-72 Wesco South win over Jackson Tuesday at the Jackson gym.

Drew Eisinger’s 3-point goal with 50 seconds remaining tied the score at 72-all for Jackson. Everett ran the clock down before attacking the basket. The Seagulls missed twice but got two offensive rebounds before Overton’s game-winning basket.

Eisinger, a junior guard, scored 38 points and was 6-for-11 from 3-point range, making four 3’s in the fourth quarter.

“It was one of the best games I’ve ever seen anyone play,” Jackson coach Steve Johnson said. “It’s not like they didn’t know he was shooting.”

Jackson trailed by 23 points late in the second quarter, but fought back to take a 65-64 lead with 21/2 minutes to play.

The lead then fluctuated until the last minute.
