The futility of the Tulsa Shock is over. At least for one night.
The Shock defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 77-75 on Friday night on a Sheryl Swoopes jumper with 2.9 seconds remaining in the game.
Tiffany Jackson led the Shock (2-25) with 20 points. DeLisha Milton-Jones scored 24 points to lead the Sparks (12-16).
The Connecticut Sun helped the Seattle Storm by beating the Phoenix Mercury 95-92. With the Mercury loss, the Storm stand alone in second place in the Western Conference.
Tina Charles led the Sun (18-10) with 17 points. Diana Taurasi and Penny Taylor each scored 26 points to lead the Mercury (15-12).
The Minnesota Lynx improved on their WNBA-best record by beating the San Antonio Silver Stars 85-75.
Seimone Augustus scored 19 points to lead the Lynx (22-6) and rookie Maya Moore chipped in 18. Danielle Robinson scored 11 points to lead the Silver Stars (13-14). The Lynx held San Antonio’s Becky Hammon scoreless on 0-for-8 shooting from the field.
In Friday’s other game, the Chicago Sky defeated the Washington Mystics 80-67.
Epiphanny Prince scored 18 points to lead the Sky (13-15). Crystal Langhorne paced the Mystics (5-22) with 19 points.
