Friday’s prep football results

Several contests were decided in final minutes.

Several local prep football games delivered plenty of drama Friday.

Three contests were decided by one point — Arlington beat Stanwood 28-27; Granite Falls edged King’s 15-14; and Ferndale, ranked No. 2 in the latest Associated Press 3A state poll, knocked off eighth-ranked Oak Harbor 29-28 overtime.

Two more games were decided by two points, as Eatonville posted a 20-18 win over Cedarcrest and Lakewood rallied for a 32-30 win over Blaine.

Elsewhere, Monroe and Lake Stevens posted decisive victories to remain in a first-place tie in Wesco 4A, and Archbishop Murphy defeated Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) 40-0 to clinch the Cascade Conference championship.

Jackson 39, Cascade 22

Ben Olesen threw for 226 yards and five touchdown passes to five different receivers for Jackson, which outscored host Cascade 27-14 in the second half to seal a Wesco 4A victory.

Massai Moore and Sean Sibley recorded touchdown runs for the Bruins (4-2, 2-3).

The Timberwolves improved to 3-3 overall, 3-2 conference.

Glacier Peak 28, Mariner 13

Ayden Ziomas threw touchdowns to three different receivers and ran for a fourth score as the Grizzlies took care of visiting Mariner in a Wesco 4A contest.

Ziomas finished with 270 yards on 9-of-15 passing, with the three touchdowns to go along with three interceptions.

The junior signal-caller also added 65 rushing yards and capped Glacier Peak’s scoring with a 1-yard plunge in the third quarter.

The Grizzlies’ Evan Mannes caught four passes for 121 yards and a touchdown, and Ziomas also hooked up with Connor Stroup and Bo Burns on long scoring passes.

Glacier Peak improved to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play, and Mariner fell to 2-5 (1-4).

Lake Stevens 59, Kamiak 7

Conor Bardue led the way for Lake Stevens with 294 passing yards and four touchdowns as the Vikings thumped host Kamiak.

Anthony Hutchinson had 124 yards on seven receptions and a touchdown for the Vikings (6-1 overall, 5-0 Wesco 4A).

Joseph Prikhodko registered 70 receiving yards and a touchdown for the Knights (1-6, 0-5).

Monroe 58, Mount Vernon 7

Monroe wide receiver Isaiah Cole set a school record with 206 receiving yards as the Bearcats routed visiting Mount Vernon in a Wesco 4A contest.

Cole caught seven passes from quarterback Jaedyn Prewitt, and the duo hooked up on scoring plays of 33 and 55-yards. Prewitt was an efficient 13-for-15 passing for 298 yards and four touchdowns. For the season Prewitt has thrown for 21 touchdowns, tied for the Monroe single-season record.

Not to be outdone by the explosive Bearcats (7-0 overall, 4-0 Wesco 4A) passing attack, Monroe running back Isaiah Lewis provided fireworks of his own. The senior scored three long touchdowns in the first quarter to lead the Bearcats to a 28-0 lead. He finished with 183 rushing yards, two catches for 61 yards and four total touchdowns.

The Bearcats defense also turned in a strong performance, with lineman Josh Jerome recording three sacks.

Squalicum 55, Marysville Getchell 20

Squalicum raced out to a 41-13 halftime lead and cruised to a Wesco 3A North win over visiting Marysville Getchell.

The Chargers dropped to 0-7 (0-5 conference).

Everett 43, Marysville Pilchuck 22

After a close first half, Everett utilized its rushing attack to pull away from host Marysville Pilchuck and win the nonleague contest.

Seagulls running backs Christian Balmer and Attim Moultrie each ran for a pair of touchdowns, with Balmer totaling 142 yards on 13 carries.

Tomahawks (2-5 overall, 1-4 Wesco 3A North) quarterback Kee-Ann Ballard kept Marysville Pilchuck in the game early. Ballard ran for a 7-yard touchdown to open the scoring and found Kyle Nyblod on a 4-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to level the score at 14-14 going into halftime.

But Everett (5-2, 4-1) responded with four straight rushing touchdowns after the break to ice the game, a run highlighted by Balmer’s 59-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

Meadowdale 52, Lynnwood 17

Meadowdale’s Hunter Moen threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns, and the Mavericks blew past host Lynnwood in Wesco 3A South action.

Colton Walsh caught five passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns for Meadowdale (4-3 overall, 3-2 Wesco 3A South).

Lynnwood dropped to 0-7 (0-5).

Snohomish 42, Shorecrest 7

Snohomish’s Keegan Stich delivered another stellar performance, compiling 181 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries, and the Panthers coasted to a win over host Shorecrest after putting up 35 points in the first half.

Snohomish quarterback Langdon Orgill hit Tyler Massena for a 72-yard touchdown pass to start the scoring in the first quarter, and the Panthers (4-3 overall, 3-1 Wesco 3A South) never trailed.

Ricardo Ruiz scored on a 45-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for the Scots (4-3, 1-3).

Granite Falls 15, King’s 14

Brayden Counsellor scored both of Granite Falls’ touchdowns and blocked King’s potential game-winning field goal attempt in the host Tigers’ victory.

Garett Brown blocked a King’s field-goal attempt with three seconds left in the game. However, Granite Falls was flagged for a sideline penalty, giving the Knights (3-4 overall, 2-2 Cascade Conference) another opportunity. Counsellor blocked the kick on the untimed down.

Camden Landrum gave Granite Falls (4-3, 3-1 Cascade) the lead on a two-point conversion after Counsellor had a 7-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter.

Archbishop Murphy 40, Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) 0

Ray Pimentel ran for 216 yards and three touchdowns, and Archbishop Murphy clinched its third straight Cascade Conference title with a win over Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) at Juanita High School.

Quarterback Victor Gabalis added two touchdowns through the air for the Wildcats (6-1 overall, 4-0 conference), who scored 34 of their 40 points in the first half.

Zach Wilkins led the Eagles (2-5, 0-4) with 62 rushing yards on 23 carries.

Lakewood 32, Blaine 30

Lakewood’s Austin Lane threw for 314 yards and four touchdowns as the Cougars held off visiting Blaine in a Northwest Conference 2A game.

Lane’s favorite target, CJ McClellan, finished with 111 yards on seven receptions and two touchdowns.

Blaine (0-7 overall, 0-5 conference), despite having not won a game all season, gave the league-leading Cougars (6-1, 4-0) all they could handle. The Borderites piled up 474 yards of total offense and took a 24-15 lead early in the third quarter.

But Lane and the Cougars offense scored 17 straight points to reclaim the lead, and the Lakewood defense denied the Borderites’ potential game-tying two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.

Shorewood 35, Sultan 7

Shorewood scored 21 points in the second half to pull away from visiting Sultan and win the non-conference game.

DaShawn Alexander caught two touchdown passes for the Thunderbirds (3-3).

Shorewood’s Brandon Main and Colin Anderson stopped Turks (2-5) drives with interceptions.
