As the good teams really separate themselves from the not-so-good teams the Games of the Week become a little easier to choose. The problem is this week doesn’t have too many choices. Here’s a look:
Marysville Getchell vs. Marysville Pilchuck: The first-ever showdown between this budding rivalry looks like it might be a better game than at first blush. After going winless in their inaugural campaign, the Chargers are 2-2 this year and have won their past two games, including last Friday’s victory over Stanwood in the Wesco North 3A opener. Marysville Pilchuck, meanwhile, has been rolling along after its loss to Lake Stevens in Week 2.
Jackson at Kamiak: This is a nice Wesco South showdown between two teams that have been a pleasant surprise so far this season. Kamiak is 3-0 after losing a tight battle to Meadowdale in Week 1, including last week’s South 4A opening win over Lynnwood. Jackson, meanwhile, is coming off of an impressive come-from-behind win over Edmonds-Woodway.
Snohomish at Arlington: Both of these teams started the season slow but have come on late. Arlington routed Stanwood in the Stilly Cup and then backed it up with a nice win on the road against Mount Vernon last week. The Panthers opened 0-3 — like last season — only to beat nonconference foe Redmond on Friday. Snohomish’s chances of knocking off Arlington, which they did last year to punch its ticket to the playoffs and keep the Eagles out, increases greatly if running back Peter St. Marie can play.
Voting ends on Thursday at 6 p.m.
