Here are four local prep events this week to keep an eye on:
1. Boys golf: Wesco 4A meet, 2 p.m. Tuesday. The eight Wesco 4A squads converge on Echo Falls Golf Course in Snohomish. Golfer to watch: Alvin Kwak of Kamiak, who shot 69 to win the Tom Dolan Memorial Invitational on April 10.
2. Boys soccer: Sultan at King’s, 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Cascade Conference title is probably out of reach, but second place is in play for both of these squads. The Turks (4-3-0 in conference play) beat the Knights (5-2-1 conference) in the teams’ first match of the season March 31.
3. Softball: Marysville Getchell at Mountlake Terrace, 4 p.m. Friday. The Chargers, who went 3-17 last season, are off to a 6-3 start this spring. Are they for real? They’ll be challenged by a good Hawks squad (7-2).
4. Track and field: Nike Eason Invitational, 10 a.m. Saturday. The largest track and field event in Snohomish County — and one of the most prestigious in the state — will be held at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Snohomish. Local teams scheduled to compete include Edmonds-Woodway, Glacier Peak, Cascade, Kamiak, Mariner, Meadowdale, Mountlake Terrace, Sultan and Snohomish.
