Indians halt AquaSox streak with 12-3 win

SPOKANE — An eight-game winning streak came to an abrupt end for the Everett AquaSox.

The Spokane Indians scored seven runs in the second inning and romped to a 12-3 win on Thursday night.

After Kyle Petty hit an RBI single in the top of the first to stake the Sox to a 1-0 lead, the Indians sent 11 men to the plate in the second and chased Everett starter Lars Huijer in the process. Jamie Jarmon and Joe Jackson each hit two-run doubles in the inning. Huijer (8-2) lasted just 12/3 innings, allowing seven hits and seven runs.

In the fifth, Austin Wilson singled home Justin Seager to cut the lead to 7-2, but Spokane immediately responded with another scoring outburst. The Indians scored five, with Evan Van Hoosier delivering a two-run triple to center field. Van Hoosier finished 3-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and two walks. Gabriel Roa and Jackson also added three hits each.

Abel De Los Santos (2-1) threw 21/3 innings to earn the win in relief of starter Ryne Slack.

Petty and James Zamarripa had two hits each for Everett.
