Jackson volleyball coach Mindy Staudinger likes her players’ personalities. She said they range from “goofballs who help lighten the mood” to “introspective kids who think about a lot of things.” She just wishes they’d talk more during matches.
“On the court they’re quiet,” she said. ”We’ve talked about becoming more vocal. That’s been a challenge at times. But this group has been awesome. I have a solid group of kids who have quality character.”
The Timberwolves (4-2 Wesco 4A) have been led by 6-foot-2 middle blocker Lauren Demoulin and sophomore outside hitter Paige Wilson.
“We know we’re capable of competing with and beating the top teams (in Wesco 4A),” Staudinger said. “It’s just a matter of choosing to play each and every (match) with the competitive nature. They have the skills. They just need to be consistent with what they have and build on that to get to the (next) level.”
