NEW YORK — Yankees captain Derek Jeter will be sidelined until after the All-Star break because of a new fracture in his injured left ankle.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman made the announcement before Thursday night’s home game against Arizona.
Cashman said the injury to the 38-year-old shortstop “is obviously a setback.” Jeter could be out at least three months.
Jeter was hurt last October in the opener of the AL championship series. He played sparingly in spring training and started the season rehabbing at the team’s spring training complex in Tampa, Fla.
