Lakewood gets hot from 3-point arc

LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Cougars are peaking at the right time.

Lakewood recorded its highest point total of the season Wednesday night, defeating the Sultan Turks 81-48 in a Cascade Conference game for its seventh win in a row.

Anthony Wiederkehr scored 25 points and the Cougars used a barrage of 3-pointers to pull away from the Turks in the first half.

Led by Wiederkehr’s four 3-pointers, the Cougars drained 10 3’s in the game, eight in the first half.

Six-foot, 4-inch Drew Scott added six points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for the Cougars.

The key ingredient during the winning streak has been the Cougars’ defense.

Lakewood hasn’t allowed more than 52 points since a 65-55 non-league loss to Anacortes on Dec. 2.

The Cougars (5-0 in league, 8-4 overall) next face No. 10 King’s (4-0, 11-1) Tuesday night in Shoreline.

Sultan (1-2, 4-7) was led by Shawn Wolter’s 25 points.
