Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said during his Monday press conference that rookie left tackle has a high ankle sprain. Carroll said the injury isn’t as severe as Okung’s earlier high ankle sprain that kept him out of two preseason games and the first three regular season games, and while he didn’t rule Okung out for Sunday’s game in Oakland, he didn’t sound optimistic that Okung would play.
“I think it’ll be a challenge for him to get back,” Carroll said.
With Okung out, Tyler Polumbus will be the starter, and Chester Pitts, who is still trying to get up to game-speed, could be used at tackle as well, though he has mostly been practicing at guard. Carroll said they are looking at other options, so it is likely the team could add a tackle tomorrow to provide depth.
Okung’s injury was the most significant to come out of Monday’s game, but not the only one. RB/FB Michael Robinson left the game with a hamstring injury, but told Carroll today he expects to play Sunday, though Carroll said his status was uncertain.
WR Brandon Stokley suffered an oblique strain, and his status is also uncertain.
CB Kelly Jennings (hamstring) and DT Brandon Mebane (calf), who both missed Sunday’s game, could return to practice this week, Carroll said, though likely not until Thursday.
