Mariner hires new boys basketball coach

Former Edmonds Community College assistant coach Eric Ensign has been selected to be the new head coach of the Mariner boys basketball team, the school announced.

Prior to Edmonds CC, Ensign coached at Nathan Hale for four seasons, and was named the Metro League Coach of the Year in 2011-12. According to a brief press release by Mariner, Ensign — who teaches in the Seattle School District — has coached basketball for 14 years.

Ensign resigned from Nathan Hale in 2013 and spent the following season as an assistant for Edmonds Community College. He takes over a Mariner team that has struggled the past few seasons, most recently going 3-17 in 2013-14.
