Marysville-Pilchuck volleyball team keeps hold on first place

EVERETT – The pressure of holding on to first place has been a great motivator for the Marysville-Pilchuck volleyball team lately.

Thursday’s showdown proved this true when the Tomahawks, the Western Conference 4A North Division leaders, defeated the Bruins 3-2 at Cascade High School.

M-P improved to 3-0 in league and 8-0 overall. The Bruins are 1-1, 5-2.

“The girls say they like it because they get more playing time,” M-P coach Shelly Johnson said. “But it’s not helping my blood pressure.”

After taking the first two games, 15-7 and 15-11, M-P coughed up the third game after leading by as many as five points and eventually lost 15-11.
